Materials are principally supplied by mail order, if you wish to collect in person at our workshop, please phone first to avoid disappointment. All quoted prices INCLUDE VAT. Natural materials are susceptible to moisture loss, quoted weights are therefore nominal.We don't have an online ordering facility because we like to talk to our customers! We accept all major credit cards on orders over £10.

Hand cane


The best quality available AA blue riband rattan hand cane. Packed in 1/2 or 1/4 kilo coils (approx). Please specify size and quantities required. A kilo can be expected to seat approximately 16 average bedroom type chairs, (86 - 95 drilled holes each).

(For reference these were the old UK hand cane sizes: No. 00 = 1.5mm, No. 0 = 1.7mm, No. 1 = 1.9mm, No. 2 = 2.1mm, No. 3 = 2.5mm, No. 4 = 2.9mm, No. 5 = 3.5mm, No. 6 = 3.9mm.)

1.60mm and 1.80mm wide

1/4 kilo = £24.00, 1/2 kilo = £42.50, 1 kilo = £85.00.

Six way weave cane panelling standard 1/2 inch spacing


Of the same Blue Riband top quality as our hand cane. Available by the linear foot or complete 50 foot roll. It is not suitable for hand caned chairs with holes drilled through the frame as panelling needs to be glued into a groove with a covering filet of cane to give it strength. Half inch weave is the most regularly used in most applications. The measurement is taken from the centre of one pair of vertical or horizontal canes to the centre of the next pair.

Six way weave cane panelling fine 3/8 inch spacing


Of the same Blue Riband top quality as our hand cane. Only available by the linear foot. It is not suitable for hand caned chairs with holes drilled through the frame as it needs to be glued into a groove with a covering filet of cane to give it strength. The photo left shows the difference in the size of weave between half inch and three eighths inch. The measurement is taken from the centre of one pair of vertical or horizontal canes to the centre of the next pair.

Centre cane round


For pegging hand cane, edging pre-woven cane panelled "Habitat" chairs and basketry. Top quality blue riband quality, fresh and flexible centre cane, can be dyed to any colour. Packed in 1/2 kilo bundles (approx). 1.5mm - 2.0mm - 2.5mm - 3.0mm - 3.5mm - 4.0mm - 4.5mm - 5.0mm - 5.5mm - 5.5mm - 6.0mm.

Centre cane round large diameter 7.5mm - 10mm

For heavy duty basketry and many other applications 7.5mm to 10mm centre cane is strong and yet still flexible, can be dyed to any colour. Lengths vary.

Flat reed


Suitable for any type of "splint" weaving including baskets. Available in two sizes 5mm and 10mm. Top quality blue riband quality, fresh and flexible, can be dyed to any colour. Packed in 1/2 kilo bundles (approx), 10mm approximately 220 feet per half kilo.

Whole rattan peeled poles


Manau is a variety of rattan vine which is lightweight and flexible yet very strong. It is considered to be the best cane to use for making furniture as it can be heated and shaped into a form which it will hold when cool.  It is also used in cricket bat handles, hockey sticks, the martial art of Escrima, Kali or Arnis and the root vine is used for polo mallets.
